Ports and connection
To join a server, your players need an address and a port. There are two cases, depending on whether or not you took the dedicated IP option.
Without a dedicated IP: 100 reserved ports
Your panel has a block of 100 ports on the shared address node.nebus.app. This block is shown in the client area (Guaranteed resources block), for example 30000–30099.
- Each server uses one of these ports as its main port (Default Allocation).
- Your players connect to
node.nebus.app:30000(with your server's port). - A server that needs several ports (for example a voice chat plugin, or the Source query) gets more in Servers → (server) → Build Configuration → Assign Additional Ports.
These 100 ports are the ones actually open for your panel on the server. That is why the Nodes → Nebus → Allocation page does not let you add, delete or change them: any other port would not work.
Minecraft tip: so that your players do not have to type the port, create a DNS SRV record on your own domain name: _minecraft._tcp.play.mydomain.com → node.nebus.app, port 30000.
With a dedicated IP: all ports
Your IPv4 address is shown in the client area. All of its ports reach your node, and your servers go out to the Internet with this address.
Your panel comes with ports 25565 to 25584. To add more:
- Administration → Nodes → Nebus → Allocation.
- In Assign New Allocations, choose the IP
0.0.0.0and enter the ports: a single port (27015) or a range (7777-7780). Leave the alias empty: your IP will be filled in automatically. - Assign the port to a server, as its main port or as an additional port.
Your players connect to your-ip:port, and on the game's default port they do not even need to specify it.
Ports 2022 (SFTP) and 8080 (node daemon) are reserved and cannot be assigned to a server. Always leave the allocation IP set to 0.0.0.0: allocations are adjusted automatically if you enter another one.
TCP and UDP
Every port works over TCP and UDP: nothing to configure for UDP games (Valheim, ARK, Rust, Terraria…).
