Backups
Pterodactyl can back up and restore your servers in one click. You first need to allow backups on each server.
Allowing backups
By default, a server is not allowed any backups. In the administration, Servers → (server) → Build Configuration, set Backup Limit (for example 3), then save.
Creating and restoring
- Backups → Create Backup tab. You can exclude files (logs, caches) to save space.
- The menu of each backup lets you download it, restore it (the server is then replaced by its contents), lock it against deletion, or delete it.
Backing up automatically
Schedules → Create Schedule tab, for example every day at 5 am (Minute 0, Hour 5), then add a Create backup task. When the limit is reached, the oldest unlocked backup is replaced.
Where are they stored?
Backups are stored on your node: they use your plan's disk space, and they disappear if the panel is deleted (end of subscription, see Billing).
For important data, regularly download a backup to your computer.
